Creating a backyard oasis this gorgeous is no easy task. But for two of our amazing friends, they were able to bang off this amazing backyard oasis is just two weeks!
I had the pleasure of hanging out in that hot tub last weekend, and I can’t wait to come back for round two.
This is how their backyard started.
The overhead structure was erected (tee hee) once the all the decking was installed.
They knew they wanted to have shade and protection from the elements, but also allow some light to shine through, so skylights were added.
The new fence was then installed right in front of the old fence. This home is a townhome, and the condo board would not allow them to tear down the existing fence. This creative solution turned out beautifully and ties everything together.
On both sides of the deck, louvered panels were installed to allow air flow, and to create privacy when hot tubbing 😉
Here are the finished louvered panels.
Once all the construction was complete, the decorating began. They chose grey and black as their grounding colours, and then layered in some pops of red, orange and green.
The pot lights installed in the ceiling are perfect for backyard parties that stretch well into the evening. The words Family, Love, and Relax are there to remind us to take things slow, and remember what’s truly important.
Ah, the hot tub. The charcoal grey base blends with the decor perfectly, and adds elegance to the space.
Beside the barbecue is a bar height seating area for meals and card games. The seats tuck in neatly under the table to save space when not in use.
Meaningful and colourful accessories are found throughout the space.
The outdoor sectional, purchased from Rona creates a conversation area, and also works well for long leisurely outdoor naps.
Here you can see the skylights, which are surrounded by the wood decking that blends the whole scheme, giving it a cohesive feel.
These sweet lanterns give off a pretty glow at night, while also keeping the mosquitos at bay.
This fun and lively backyard belongs to two of the most fun and lively people I know, and I’m so happy for them that they get to enjoy this beautiful space.
That’s it for today’s post. I’ll be back again next week. See you then 😉
