Last weekend I finished my fall inspired mantle, and my favourite item was the Harvest banner. In this post, I’ll show you the easy steps I took to create this cute banner.
The completed banner.
I made a cardboard template of my banner, and traced it on to the burlap to ensure the banner pennants were all the same shape and size.
I would recommend cutting the burlap outside…and to not wear your favourite polka dot pixie pants while working with burlap. That stuff is messy!
Once all the pennants are cut to size, I used a large sewing needle to thread my jute twine through the burlap.
Turns out that duct tape and burlap aren’t friends, and I had to go back and use a hot glue gun on them instead.
This was the perfect use of my flash cards, since I wasn’t using the capital letters, and they remind me of mini chalkboards. Check out how I used the lowercase letters as fridge magnets, featured here.
For the final touch, I added some faux leaves and burlap flowers as embellishments to the banner.
Happy Fall Everyone 🙂
I’ll be back again later in the week to show you a cute Fall Centrepiece idea. See you then.
