This month, for the *Renew * Refresh * Restyle Furniture Challenge, 5 other bloggers and I have been working on brand new furniture flip projects and can’t wait to share them with you. For my furniture flip this month, I decided to do an Ikea Hack by turning this unused end table into a fun and stylish ottoman/coffee table for my rec room.
Here is what my original (broken) coffee table looked like. Lol. Don’t you just love the stacked books holding up the corner? I’m embarrassed to admit that this set up was in place for over a year. Definitely time for an update.
This ottoman literally took 15 minutes and was one of the easiest projects I’ve ever done. I started with my Ikea lack end table, some fabric I had lying around and some $4.00 foam from my local fabric store.
I removed the legs off the bottom of the table, and then got to work with fitting it all in place. I did round the corners of the foam using scissors, as I didn’t want the corners to be square. This is easy and can be done using any sharp scissors.
I then stapled the fabric to the bottom of the table using my nail gun and staples.
Next, I trimmed the excess fabric off the bottom of the table. I suppose you could add a piece of trim moulding over this part to clean up the edge, but since this part is facing the floor, I didn’t really mind and I left it as is.
I then cut the legs to the height I wanted and screwed them back in. Bam! Easy peasy (stylish) ottoman, baby!
I love how the rounded edges turned out, and I’m so pleased with the end result.
The chunky square legs of the ottoman even blend with the equally chunky legs of the Karlstad sofa for an accidentally cohesive look đ
It’s so much better than the broken legged coffee table.

I love what you did in creating this little stool. Nice job!
What a great idea! You can use different coloured Lack tables and any fabric for a completely different/unique look đ
There’s nothing better than a good save and this one is awesome. We use an upholstered ottoman as a coffee table and just love it. I think your new table will be fun and functional, but you can let me know who it works for you. Thanks for linking to Friday’s Furniture Fix. Sharing out on IG and FB today. Awe. Thanks so much Ambi đ You are super sweet.
This is so GREAT!!! I love that you made your hurtin’ table into a wonderful ottoman where you can put your feet up after a hard (or not so hard ;)) day. What a wonderful way to breath new life. Yay!!
Sue, I just love it! The fabric you chose is beautiful! I also see a barnwood door hanging in the background that I am fawning over. I am on the hunt for one. Flea Market season will be here soon and I hope to find one. Have a great day!
Thank you so much Michelle. I actually made that barn door over two years ago. I really need to do a blog post about it ????
