Happy New Year my friends. 2016 has been an amazing year and I’ve learned so much about DIY that I’ll be able to continue to use and grow in 2017. For this post, I’m going to take a look back at the best DIY projects of 2016.
Some of my most viewed and best performing DIY projects of 2016 were a bit of a surprise to me, but I’ve had a blast this past year and am so pleased to have had you along for the ride and I sure hope you stick around, because 2017 is going to bring you even more projects and tours. Our summer of 2016 was consumed by the installation of an in ground pool, and I’m so excited to give you a full tour of the process and After pics of our backyard once it’s fully complete. 2017 is going to bring you a ton of new mini projects and home decor crafts, but I’m also going to be tackling a bunch of HUGE new projects. Here are my major project goals for 2017:
-finish the exterior of the pool cabana
-finish the interior of the pool cabana
-renovate the laundry room
-install a new double trough sink in the kid’s bathroom
-renovate our 2-piece bathroom in our bedroom
-install built ins in the living room
-build a corner banquette in the living room
Now that my goals have been carved in stone (lol…), let’s see what the Best DIY Projects of 2016 were:
#1 Post: DIY Tiki Bar
My DIY Tiki Bar continues to be my most viewed and pinned post. Although this has been disassembled, I still have all the supplies to set it up any time we are feeling like a little luau party.
#2 Post: Moss Covered Monogram
This easy DIY Moss Covered Monogram post came in at the second most viewed post of 2016. This giant moss “P” was easy and inexpensive to put together, since I used items I had around the house, including an empty cereal box, duct tape, craft paint, glue and moss from the dollar store. #3 Post: DIY Ottoman Ikea Hack
This post being in the top 3 was a total surprise to me and I’m shocked by how well its done on Pinterest. This project was completed in all of 15 minutes and we still love it in our basement rec room. It’s the perfect spot to put your feet up while watching tv or reading a book and is a great upcycle for an unused side table from Ikea. #4 Post: Master Bedroom Closet Makeover
This one has to be one of the biggest transformations we completed in 2016. I’m still in love with how it all came together, and building custom cubbies and hanging rod spaces was way easier than I had thought. Click here to see the full post —-> Master Bedroom Closet Makeover

#5 Post: Kid’s Bathroom Remodel
This old dated turquoise bathroom got a one way ticket to 2016 with new tile, paint and decor items. I really like using turquoise as an accent colour, but it’s just too much when it’s everywhere (including the ceiling…) See the full post here ———> Kid’s Bathroom Remodel
