I’ve been working really hard on my living room this past month, and I’m so excited to be nearly finished so I can share it with you guys. In the meantime though, there was this stool upholstering and spray painting project I’ve had on the back burner for awhile. So, for this month for the Furniture Refresh Challenge, I’ll show you how to reupholster an old stool that now complements the new living room decor.
We’ve had so much fun with this monthly challenge, and have decided to make a monthly theme. The month of February is Spray Paint!!! This fun monthly challenge ensures that I always follow through with those projects that seem to sometimes take forever to get done, and I’m so happy to be able to share the projects of some of my friends too. Let’s meet the hosts:
Here is a pic of one of the stools. I picked up 3 of them for $10.00. I knew I could make them pretty with some fun fur and metallic spray paint.
I started by removing the seat from the metal base. I then just put the screw aside because I would need those later to re-attach the seat.
This is my go-to gold metallic spray paint. I LOVE it. I’ve tried them all, and this is my favourite.

I live in Canada (eh…) Notice the snow?? The cold is no match for this spray paint though, and it dried just as quickly and thoroughly as if it was a summer day.
While the metal bases were drying, I cut my white fun fur to size and tacked it in place.
Now that the stools are twinning with my rug and coffee table, everything coordinates. If you want to see the tutorial where I transformed an old glass coffee table using contact paper, you can check out that post here —-> DIY Faux Marble Coffee Table.
I simply love how quick and easy these were to transform. Please check out the links to see what my friends have completed using spray paint. These are some seriously talented ladies, so hang on…
