This year, I’m participating in the 2018 Ornament Exchange, hosted by the talented Erlene from My Pinterventures. All bloggers are paired up with a blogging partner and tasked with creating an original and unique ornament for their partner’s Christmas tree. How fun, right? I’m so excited to share with you this fun DIY Reindeer Ornament and I hope my partner likes it as much as I do.
This year, I was paired up with Maria from The Inspiration Vault. Be sure to check out her blog and all the amazing crafts she creates and see pics of her beautiful decor. Maria has a total of 4 Christmas trees up to celebrate the holidays and I hope this Reindeer ornament finds a home on one of them.
Included in this tutorial is the 2018 Ornament Exchange Link Party, our third year of the blogger ornament exchange! This link party is only for handmade ornament tutorials and will run from November 15th through December 15th.
This year, we have 50 talented bloggers sharing their Christmas ornament tutorials and helping to host the handmade ornament exchange link party! Let’s meet the hosts of this year’s 2018 Ornament Exchange Link Party!

It’s no secret that I’m kind of *obsessed* with stag heads as decor. They are so fun to decorate with and I love the versatility and how they come in different sizes, shapes and colours. I paired this obsession with my love of crafting and came up with this fun ornament.
When I was looking for inspiration, I saw this wire stag head. I liked it, but wasn’t a fan of the brown colour. It seemed too boring, you know?!?
Gold spray paint to the rescue! I sprayed the whole thing a shimmery gold colour, which made it look so much better.
Here it is drying. Now, I just needed to figure out how to fancy it up a bit.
While at Michaels, I spotted this fun little wooden plaque and I knew it would be perfect!
I painted it in a rich greeny gold tone, which I hope will work nicely with Maria’s tree.
Next, I had to slightly bend the stag head a little to get it to sit properly on the plaque. Then I used hot glue to secure it in place. I felt like it still needed something though…
Since my ornament exchange partner lives in Florida, I wanted to pay homage to Mickey Mouse (obvi); so I crated this fabric bow tie to add to the stag.
I added a gold ring to the top to secure the twine and hot glued the bow tie in place. Now, he’s sufficiently fancy ?
This angle shows the size of the ornament. Hopefully he’s not too big…
I sure hope Maria likes him as much as I do. Be sure to check out all the other handmade ornaments made by my blogging friends.
Until next time,
If you have a handmade ornament tutorial, we would love for you to share it on the link party below ⇓⇓ Add as many ornament tutorials as you like until December 15th.

Ah! A deer ornament! I love deer decorations at Christmas and I’ve made a wire wrapped tree before so I definitely have to give this a try!
Well that fancied it up quite a bit didn’t it! Amazing what a little bit of paint will do.
I love the makeover! The deer head looks so much nicer in gold and mounted. Pinned.
This is so cute! I pinned it. I think it’ll look perfect on a farmhouse Christmas tree!
I would have had to have that wire stag head too! He looks better gold too! So cool! Love this~!

The little reindeer is so dapper with the bowtie. He is all ready to celebrate the season. Totally adorable.
Love it and the little bow just tops it off – so adorable, well done!! #2018ornamentexchange
The bowtie is so cute! He’s a handsome reindeer. It will look great on the tree.
That is very cute! Pinned.
