The weather has been spectacular lately, and I’m loving every minute of it. Mostly because I know it’s not going to last too much longer and as Ned Stark would say “Winter is Coming…” Since I’ve been spending so much time outside lately, I wanted to create a pretty Fall Front Porch.
Remember a year or two ago, when I bought this antique dresser to act as a bathroom vanity? Lol. I think it may have found a permanent home on my porch. I love it there and as a bonus, I get to store my gardening stuff in the drawers.
At one of my thrift store adventures, I bought a frame that came with a pretty Fall painting. I removed the painting and used the frame as a chalkboard, but I never forgot about that painting. I re-purposed it in a new frame and I think the Fall colours look great for this display.
I really wanted some branches and leaves on either side of the display, but the leaves kept drying out and curling in. So, I hot glued some fake leaves (from the dollar store) to these branches and voila… endless Fall.
I have never been a great gardener, but I’m stoked about my Fall mums and the fact that I’ve kept them alive so long. Lots of water… that’s the key (I think).
I made this HARVEST sign using some scrap wood I had on hand. Probably left over from my daughter’s headboard I made.
You can check that out here —–> How to Build Fabric Headboard
Anyhow, I stained the wood and let it dry. I then printed out the letters for the word HARVEST using the font I thought would look the best. I then cut them out, and traced them onto the board with chalk. From there, I just painted in the letters. Easy peasy.
My front porch and whole exterior of my house need an overhaul.. I know… (note the stain wearing off on the stairs and porch), but I’m going to set aside some time to re-do this entire porch with new stain, new lighting, a new front door, and new pavers. And down the road, the plan is to paint the brick and siding, but that’s another story.
I’ve been loving all the weather this Fall and hope it continues for another couple weeks so the trick or treaters don’t freeze. I hope you are all enjoying it too. Until next time my friends,
