Hi Everyone. Since the temperature has been so frigid outside lately, I decided to make a cozy sweater pillow, along with a few bonus items. The total time it took was about 40 min from start to finish. I love how they turned out, and they’re perfect to snuggle up with on a cold winter day.
Here’s how it was done.

First I found a soft cream coloured sweater I loved at a local thrift store. I cut the arms off and into smaller pieces (more on that later).
I cut the top part off too, to make a square.
Then I just sewed up the top and bottom using the simplest stitch there is. I sewed the top first, and about half of the bottom, leaving room for me to stuff my pillow inside. The rest is just sewn by hand. I’m not nearly savvy enough to add a zipper or a flap or anything 🙂
And here she is, all cozy and pretty.
I paired it with some other winter items that evoke a cozy feeling.
Here’s another sweater pillow I made a couple months ago, using the same method.

As an extra bonus, I also made two sets of boot toppers. How fun!

Even Anna got a pair of little leg warmers.
So many different options, and varieties of things that can be done with an old sweater.
Stay warm and cozy friends. See you in a couple of days 🙂

I love, love, love what you did with a thrift store sweater Sue! What a great way to upcycle and they look so pretty and cozy 🙂 Thanks so much for linking this up to the Bewitchin’ Projects Block Party last week! You are one of my Featured picks tomorrow over at Recreated Designs. Hugs, Lisa
Thanks so much Lisa 🙂 I’m so honoured you chose my project and can’t wait to see it. Thanks again.
I absolutely love this idea. We’re in the process of buying a home and so I love ideas like this that are easy and inexpensive but look really great when finished. I never would have come up with the boot-topper idea either. I may never look at sweaters the same way again 🙂
Happy New Year!!
This is a great project. I will definitely be trying this one. Thank you for sharing these are great. We are in the same BlogHer Writing Lab group on FB. 😉
