In our home, the kid’s bathroom is quite big (and long). The kids actually refer to it as “The Long Bathroom”. It needed quite a bit of TLC when we arrived on the scene, but with 2 days, a little love, and a minimal budget, we were able to turn this bathroom into a modern and fun space.

The palette is grey and cream, with pops of yellow for fun.
Here is a Before pic. Check out that wicked lino floor. Lol. The turquoise wall colour is nice, but maybe as an accent only. The ceiling was even painted in that colour. You can see in this pic, we’ve already started painting the ceiling a nice crisp white.
Here is the After.
Eventually, a new counter top (marble perhaps?), and a long trough sink will be added, so that two faucets can be installed. This vanity is so long (6 feet), it makes sense for it to do double duty. Stay tuned…..
**************P.S. The vanity is also going to get a cool paint treatment in the future.**************
Here is another Before pic showing the other end of the bathroom.
I absolutely despised the hollywood lighting, so this was one of the first things we changed. It involved some re-wiring, since we were adding another junction box. The wooden whale was purchased at a thrift store for $2.00. I was initially going to paint him charcoal grey, but decided I liked the natural wood tone far more.
The other side has the linen closet, and some sweet stipple artwork that was created for us by a friend. The paint was just left over from our kitchen, and is from the Home Hardware Designer Series.
The giant mirror was left intact, and a simple frame was installed around it.
Some pops of the yellow colour were added to the countertop with apothecary jars and faux yellow flowers.
The towel hooks outside the shower are one of my favourite things. I found this on Etsy.
The flooring was installed by yours truly, while my Handy Dude cut the tiles in our driveway. It was not easy, since the tiles were 12 x 24, and working with any large scale tile is a challenge. These porcelain tiles were purchased at Home Depot, and cost about $4-5 per square foot. By far, the tiles were the most expensive item in the room. I love them though, and how they remind me of birch bark.
The new light fixtures are industrial style halogen lights. I love the directed glow of halogen bulbs, since they make the room feel like it sort of has pot lights.
The bathroom window is west facing, so there is a ton of natural light that shines in the afternoons.
Perhaps one day, I’ll change out the white wooden blinds, and add a roman shade or something like that, but for now, they are fine 🙂
That’s it for today folks. Thanks for checking out my blog. See you soon my friends,
Love it!! Can you share your paint color? Just getting ready to pick a gray for our bedroom makeover and I love this!
Hi Kristy. I sure can. I’ll have to check the paint can when I get home, and I can let you know what it’s called. I recall it being from Home Hardware, which is a small Canadian retailer. Are you in Canada?
I am not, hopefully I can find something similar though. I know Lowes here in the States can match a lot of different companies somehow 🙂
OMG I about died laughing when I caught the POO & PEE letters above the doorframe!!
lol. Thanks so much Lori. I think they’re hilarious too. I was really just trying to add some more of the yellow colour to the space, but it makes me giggle whenever I see them 😉
Lovely remodel I love your floor choice and the new fixtures!
