Now that the warm weather has officially arrived, it’s time for some outdoor living. Nothing beats sitting outside with a glass of wine or coffee and enjoying the sounds of the birds. In this post, I’ll show you how I transformed an old chandelier (that was in storage for 5 years), into fun outdoor decor that happens to give off a little light too.
This is also a sneak peek at my #30dayflip challenge for May that I’m thrilled to be taking part of. The May challenge is focused on Container Gardening and/or Outdoor Spaces, and is hosted by Jeanette from Snazzy Little Things and Meredith from Arts and Classy. Check out these very talented ladies’ blogs for inspiration. I’ll be doing a special blog post on Sunday featuring my outdoor room for this challenge. Yay!!!!
I started with an old chandelier that I purchased off Craigslist years ago, but then never ended up using since it was way bigger than I had thought. All the wiring in this chandelier was disconnected using simple snippers.
I knew I wanted to go with a greenish chandelier, to pick up on the lime colour in my outdoor cushions, so I grabbed some lime spray paint, construction adhesive, and 8 small green candles (purchased from the dollar store).
I’m kind of a weakling (Lol), so I had to get my husband to pull the metal section of the lights out of their settings. This took some muscle, so I was glad to have him around for this part.
Once that was done, I hung the chandelier from a branch with a skipping rope, and sprayed it lime.
Next came adding the tealights. The glass holders are a tad larger than a standard tea light, so once these candles burn down, I can add a regular tea light in them, or even a small votive candle. We simply glopped some construction adhesive to the bottom of the holder, and then popped them in place.
Here is the chandelier hung up. I know, I know, this space is super boring right now. I still have some “prettying it up” to do, before it’s ready for the #30dayflip.
Here is a close up of the chandelier and candles.
The candles do give off quite a bit of light at night, and create a nice ambient glow. I can’t wait to be able to chill out in this space once it’s fully done.
Stay tuned for a special Sunday blog post featuring my outdoor space, and you can also check out all the spaces other bloggers and DIYer’s have been working on by going to Jeanette or Meredith’s blogs. See you soon all 🙂

I really like the tole style – painted all one colour gives it a fresh new, yet vintage look! Quirky LOVE 🙂
Your chandelier is lovely! This is on my DIY list this weekend 🙂
That’s wonderful. Have fun, and thanks so much for checking out my blog 🙂
