Thank you so much Karla from Small Town Rambler for nominating me for the Maker Mood Board Contest hosted by porch.com and ATG Stores. The challenge is to choose an inspiration pic from the porch.com website, and then create a mood board based around that pic. #MMBC
This is the photo I chose. It was designed by Sojo Designs for a stunning roof top penthouse terrace in Miami, Florida. Wow, right? I just LOVE that lush green living wall.
And here is my mood board, based on the inspiration pic. I stepped way out of my comfort zone with this one, and went with a combination of modern and Bohemian, with contrasting accents in breezy blue and a warm toned orange. I also added some bling to the board by using some chic copper elements. Being someone who typically sticks to creams and greys, this was a stretch for me, but I LOVE how it turned out. I think the copper paired with the greenery. alongside the orange & blue accents works perfectly.
I started my mood board thinking that it would be an easy task, but once I saw the extensive selection of available products from ATG Stores, I quickly realized that this was going to take some time to carefully select the items I wanted to include in my mood board. Here is a breakdown of all the items on my Mood Board.
Since outdoor napping is one of my favourite things to do, and I love the shape of this day bed, this was the first item I selected. It’s the Martinique Beach Daybed by Zuo Modern.
This ultra modern outdoor couch suited the mood board, with its fun orange tones. It’s the Cosmopolitan Sofa by Zuo Modern.
This gorgeous copper tub is perfect for adding ice and some fun summer beverages. It’s from ACHLA Designs, under Large Oval Steel Tub.
This curvy outdoor sconce is also from ATG Stores, by Maxim Lighting.
I will definetely be ordering some of these gorgeous string lights for my outdoor space. Made by Bulbrite.
Who wouldn’t LOVE an outdoor pizza oven in their backyard?
The orange ombre curtains are from the Threshold line from Target.
In the background of my mood board, you’ll notice a pretty outdoor rug in key lime.
These fun pillar candle holders are the perfect Bohemian accent for outdoor ambiance.
This cute glass bottle tea light holder can be hung from a fence hook, or a sheppards hook in the garden.
I have a soft spot for anything quatrefoil, so this Quatrefoil Lantern didn’t stand a chance.
This Extra Large Bell Jar placed over an orange gerber daisy was a perfect accent to tie in the orange.
These adorably playful Bohemian outdoor cushions were the jumping off point for the whole colour scheme. They are my favourite item on the mood board.
This guy is the coolest!!!!! He’s actually a Ceramic Candle Holder.
An outdoor room has to have some greenery. I love this preppy Cedar Ball Topiary.
This whispy Green Grass Planter by Laura Ashley would look perfect on an outdoor coffee table.
For my “topiary in a copper planter” concept, I photo-shopped these two items. The Cedar Spiral Topiary is accented by the gorgeous copper tones in the oversized double chiller ice bucket.
The copper theme plays throughout the mood board, and I couldn’t resist using this cute Small Bell Jar, on a copper platter.
Every outdoor room needs some pretty lighting for evening parties. I like to add Christmas lights to my greenery, so to get that feeling in my mood board, I did a little photoshop magic by combining a Christmas Tree with a Copper Ice Bucket as a planter.
That’s it for my Mood Board. I hope you enjoyed it, and I can’t wait to see what other bloggers have been working on for this contest. If you haven’t yet checked out porch.com, you should go. Like, right now. It’s a great site with millions of room photos you can use for inspiration.
As part of the contest, I have to nominate 5 blogger friends to also take part in the contest. Since my life as a blogger is still in its infancy, I’m going to go with some of my favourite blogs to read, and go for the big guns. I nominate:
Jennifer Flores from Rambling Renovators
Virginia from LiveLoveDIY
Jeanette Lockmiller from Snazzy Little Things
Meredith Greenberg from Arts and Classy
And last but not least: Lynne Knowlton from Design the Life you Want to Live
