For this blog post, I’m going to welcome you into our family’s cottage, located on beautiful Georgian Bay. We’re truly blessed to have this wonderful retreat we can escape to during the summer months.
Walkway up to the back of the cottage.
A wonderful sunny patio to the right is the perfect place to eat lunch, read a book, or work on a DIY project 😉
The great room features catherdral ceilings, clad in pine boards, and the skylights allow light to pour into the space.
The modest kitchen features cabinets that weren’t touched in the overall renovation, and are original to the 1950’s.
The dining area right off the kitchen includes a dining table that came with the cottage when it was purchased nearly 40 years ago.
A cozy sitting area that looks out on to the beach and lake is just off the dining area. This place is perfect for “after-dinner drinks”.
Here is a view of the great room from the other side. The brick fireplace adds warmth and character on those cooler summer evenings.
This is my favourite piece of artwork in the cottage, and I love how the tones of the water contrast against the cream walls.
Another view of the dining area off the kitchen.
Fireplace and sitting area.
The one and only bathroom in the cottage has a cabin feel, with it’s 360 degree cladding in the pine boards.
The guest house, just off the main cottage echoes the same high ceilings and cabin feel. Pssssst…. stay tuned for a future blog post featuring that massive (5 1/2 foot) headboard. I’ll break down the steps taken to build this monster. Lol. I didn’t think it was going to be this big.
The front of the cottage has a deck that looks out on to the beach and lake. Hummingbirds can often be seen (and heard) zooming by, while relaxing on this deck.
Path to the beach (and the fun).
That’s it for today’s post. Thanks so much for checking out my blog. I’ll be back again later this week.
See you then 🙂
