For the August #30dayflip, hosted by Jeanette from Snazzy Little Things and Meredith from Arts and Classy, the challenge was to do a Room Refresh to any space. Since I’ve been working away at adding all the finishing touches to my oldest daughter’s room, I thought this would help motivate me to finish it.
It’s “nearly” done with a few tweaks needed here and there, but the overall feel is fun and lively, but mature as well.
Here is the dreaded “BEFORE” picture.
The layout was basically kept the same, but a larger bed and dresser were added.
More “BEFORE” pics.
Earlier this month, I finished the chalkboard above her desk, which is featured here.
The striped Paris inspired ottoman was made using an oval coffee table, and the steps are featured here.
The peace sign, purchased at Target is perfect for a teen girls’ room. I plan to make a gallery wall here in the future, using the peace sign as the focal point.
This artwork was made using a gift bag that I cut out and placed behind some glass in an inexpensive frame. I love using scrapbook paper and other non-conventional/cheap items as artwork.
The sweet sheer curtains were purchased at Giant Tiger, for $15.00 per panel. They add a delicate softness to the room, and I can’t seem to get over how much more “finished” the room feels with them up.
The Parisian style headboard was made by yours truly using a stretchy jersey fabric. The step by step instructions are featured here, and the awesome pillow arrangement was done by my daughter. It’s so sweet that she takes pride in it, and since I’ve refreshed her room she’s been making her bed every morning. Parenting win!!!!
The large Ikea Hemnes dresser is perfect for storing her plethora of clothing.
I’m thrilled with how it’s coming along, and best of all, my daughter is happy; and that makes it all worthwhile 🙂 I’m also happy that the to-do list for this project is slowly shrinking. All that remains is:
-installing the black chandelier
-adding the gallery wall over the dresser
-customizing an “eiffel tower” style lamp for the bedside table (I’m STILL on the hunt for the perfect lampshade… Argh…)
Well, that’s it for today’s post. Thanks so much for joining me, and thanks again so much Jeanette & Meredith for hosting the #30dayflip challenge. Please click on the link below if you’d like to check it out.
See you at the end of the week everyone. Have a great one 🙂
